Nissan’s COO Ashwani Gupta Remarks:
Ashwani Gupta (Nissan’s Chief Operating Officer) believes that electric cars must have “customer pull”. It is not only automobiles that must be bought by law or taxation. Consumers must find electric vehicles appealing. “The goal is to have ICEs priced at par with electric vehicles while still offering higher performance.”
Renault and Nissan both have over one million sold electric vehicles, and they have low battery costs. The new platform shares parts with the larger electric Megane. Renault’s CMF-B EV electric platform will be used in the Micra. They will be priced at the same level as petrol superminis. There are no subsidies. New emission limits will raise the price of fuel cars, however.
